Why We Exist

Most people selling gold have never sold gold before

That's the whole problem this shop was built around. The person walking in with a jewelry box usually isn't a collector or an investor — they're settling an estate, clearing out a drawer, or turning something they'll never wear into something they can use. They have no way to know whether the number they're being handed is fair.

The industry mostly takes advantage of that. Mail-in buyers ask you to ship your gold to a stranger and trust the check that comes back. Mall kiosks quote a flat rate that has nothing to do with what the metal is actually worth that day. Pawn shops price for a loan, not a purchase. In every one of those, the math happens where you can't see it.

Nothing gets tested, weighed, or priced behind a curtain. If you can't watch it happen, we're not doing it.
The one rule at this coin shop

So we do it in the open. Your items get tested for purity in front of you. They go on a legal-for-trade scale you can read from your side of the glass. The spot price is on the board on the wall. We walk through the arithmetic out loud — weight times purity, plus any collector premium — and then you decide, with the number in front of you and no one leaning on you either way.

Sometimes that means telling you a piece is plated and worth nothing. Sometimes it means telling you the coin you thought was junk is worth well above melt. Both conversations happen the same way, because a shop that only tells you good news isn't telling you the truth.

Optional — add your own history here

Drop in the founding year, who's behind the case, how long you've been in the trade, and any memberships or credentials (ANA, ICTA, PCGS/NGC dealer status). Real names and dates land harder than anything else on the page. Replace this box with a paragraph or two and it becomes part of the story.

How We Operate

Six rules we don't bend

These aren't marketing lines. They're the operating instructions for everything that happens here, and they're the reason people drive in from three counties.

01

Test First, Quote Second

No number leaves our mouths before the item has been tested and weighed. A karat stamp is a claim, not proof — plenty of plated jewelry is stamped, and plenty of solid gold isn't marked at all.

02

The Scale Faces You

Legal-for-trade scale, positioned so you can read it from your side. If you can't see the weight your offer is based on, the offer isn't transparent.

03

Spot Is Public

The live market price is on the board on the wall and on this website. Your offer is built from that number in front of you, not from a rate someone set weeks ago.

04

We Show The Arithmetic

Weight times purity, plus collector premium where it applies. Said out loud, step by step. Ask us to run it again and we will.

05

No Doesn't Cost Anything

Turn the offer down and you walk out with everything you brought. No appraisal fee, no restocking charge, no speech at the door about how you'll regret it.

06

Bad News Gets Told

If it's plate, we say it's plate. If the coin is worth less than you hoped, we say that too. Getting the truth for free is still worth the trip.

Set Expectations

What this shop is — and what it isn't

What We Are

  • A dedicated coin and precious-metals shop, where buying gold is the whole business rather than a sideline
  • A place that buys and sells — there's inventory in the case most days, not just an outbound buying desk
  • Equipped to price collectible coins on date, mint mark and condition, not just melt weight
  • Set up for whole estates and unsorted accumulations, sorted here at no charge
  • Local, with an address you can drive to and a person you can look at

× What We're Not

  • A pawn shop — we're not writing short-term loans against your property
  • A mail-in operation asking you to ship valuables to a stranger and wait
  • A mall kiosk working off a flat rate disconnected from the day's market
  • A high-pressure room — declining an offer here is a normal outcome, not a negotiation opening
  • A jewelry store trying to trade you into a replacement purchase
Our Commitment

What you're owed here

Every person who walks in gets the same handling, whether they're carrying one class ring or a safe-deposit box worth more than a car.

  • 1Your items are tested and weighed where you can watch
  • 2The spot price we're pricing against is visible to you
  • 3The math is explained out loud before you decide
  • 4Questions get answered by the person writing the check
  • 5The appraisal is free whether you sell or not
  • 6Declining costs you nothing and ends the conversation politely

Fair Questions

Whether you can trust the number

How do I know I'm getting a fair price?
Because you watch it get built. The spot price is posted, your item is tested and weighed in front of you, and the arithmetic is explained out loud before you commit to anything. You're also free to take that number, walk out, and compare it elsewhere — nothing about the appraisal obligates you.
Are you a pawn shop?
No. Pawn shops write short-term loans secured by your property, and they price accordingly. We're a coin and precious-metals shop making outright purchases priced against the live market. Different business, different math. How gold pricing works →
Do you sell, or only buy?
Both. There's inventory in the case most days — gold and silver bullion, U.S. type coins, proof and mint sets, and collector pieces. Call ahead if you're after something specific and we'll tell you what's on hand.
What if I decide not to sell?
You keep your items and pay nothing. That's a normal outcome here — plenty of people come in just to find out what something is worth, and that's a perfectly good reason to visit.
Will you tell me if something is worth more than melt?
Yes. Rare dates, mint marks, and better-condition coins are worth well above their metal, and we price them that way. Melting a scarce coin would be worth less to us than paying you correctly for it.
Do you handle whole estates?
Yes, and unsorted is fine — sorting is our job, at no charge. For a large estate or collection, call (864) 631-1000 ahead so we can set aside dedicated time. See everything we buy →
